Diamonds Found On Beach Are Fakes

Police in the city of Mumbai (formerly "Bombay") urged residents not to flock to a nearby beach in search of diamonds being washed up on their sandy shores. Hundreds of people had descended on the popular Juhu beach since the rumors started to spread last Saturday. Some people even brought along lights and torches, feeling they would make out better, with less competition, if they arrived in the middle of the night. Some people believed that the loot was from a ship of wealth that was lost a century ago in the Arabian Sea.

Alas, all of this was for naught, as local jewelers have confirmed that the stones are not diamonds, but useless pieces of glass or stones. This meant little to the natives, who none the less sold the "diamonds" to unsuspecting tourists for healthy profits. The Indian government is now trying to track down all of those who misrepresented these worthless pieces of glass, and promised to punish any that are identified.

"Hey dear, would you please marry me? I got you this beautiful diamond from an investor in India."

Don't hold your breath.
